There is a cheaper alternative to taxis if you are prepared to book at least 3 days in advance and you will probably get the same driver each time, it is Transport Plus. It is a non-profit scheme provided by voluteers locally. The current charge is 40p per mile with a minimum charge of £2 for the first 5 miles. The cost of the journey is paid directly to the driver.
