DIARY 2009
31st December 2009. Last day of the year ! Six of us to play indoor bowls at Pinewood in Sheringham. No one else playing but us so it was nice and relaxing. Ken and Chris ended up the winners. We then went on to the Roman Camp pub to continue our chats. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.
17th December 2009. Xmas Lunch at the New Inn at Horning. There was a walk planned as well but the weather was very cold and even snowing so we decided to give it a miss.
16th December 2009. Evening outing to the sports club in North Walsham to play darts and pool.
10th December 2009. The Haig club in Mundesley today to play darts and pool.
3rd December 2009. Birthday meal ( Sean and Links birthday ) at The White Swan in North Walsham, which was very good. Then on to Strikers for tenpin bowling. It cheered us all up a bit as it is a bit of a depressing time of year.
26th November 2009. Table tennis for a change, at Sherringham Community Centre then just up the road for some snooker in Sherringham Social Club.
12th November 2009. Badmington at Spash in Sheringham today, then on to The Crown for a meal and chat.
5th November 2009. Tenpin bowling today which we haven't done for a while.
29th October 2009. Lovely mild sunny day and glad that i took a chance and booked tennis courts for today. After an hours play we went on to The Roman Camp pub and believe it or not sat in the garden with a drink before it got dark.
22nd October 2009. Following the comments last week that everyone enjoyed the walks that we do, we did another one, but coupled with one of our other favourite pastimes, eating ! So it was a chinese banquet at Riverside in Norwich followed by a new walk, along the river, past the cathedral and over a pedestrian bridge back to Riverside. About 2-3 miles. To finish off we sat outside the Adam and Eve for a deserved beer.
15th October 2009. Six of us decided we could not waste the good weather and went for a 2 mile walk in Bacton Woods then on to The Bluebell garden for a drink and a chat.
8th October 2009. Went on a walk around Felbrigg lake on a lovely sunny day then on to The Roman Camp pub where we sat in their nice garden with a beer and enjoyed the sunshine.
7th October 2009. Four of us met up at the sports centre in North Walsham and played darts and pool. Hopeing to make a regular thing of it.
24th September 2009. Off to play golf at a new venue, Bure park in Great Yarmouth. Lincoln won with a round of 68 over the 18 holes. Beautiful day so stopped off at The Eels Foot Inn on Rollesby Broad for a drink on the way home.
22nd September 2009. Tennis again at Cromer making the most of the grass courts before they are reseeded. The doubles match was won by John and Steve.
17th September 2009. Tennis at Cromer.
10th September 2009. Eight of us today for tenpin bowling at Strikers. Ken came out the winner with a score of 170, a record for this year. After, we went to the pub garden of The Bluebell.
8th September 2009. Tennis at Cromer.
4th September 2009. Darts and pool night at the sports centre in North Walsham to introduce a new member Chris to some of the guys.
3rd September 2009. Weather a bit dodgy so we opted for whats turning out to be a yearly game of indoor bowls at Pinewood in Sherringham. This time we managed to play the full 2 hours with the winning team being Lincloln and Steve. After, we went on to The Roman Camp pub for a drink.
1st September 2009. Tennis at Cromer. A thunderstorm stopped play halfway through but after a half hour it was over and left a beautiful rainbow and we continued our game of doubles with Ken and Lincoln coming out winners.
27th August 2009. Golf at Mousehold Heath today beautiful weather still. Six of us split into two groups and lightly competed against each other. Our Back on Track course record was beaten by Lincoln and is now 66. Some of us called in on a favourite watering hole of ours The White Horse on the way home .
25th August 2009. Making the most of the good weather four of us went off to Cromer Tennis Club in the evening to play doubles which was won by John and Steve.
20th August 2009. We went on a easy 3 mile walk, starting at Kelling Heath Holiday Park to Weybourne Station where we were lucky to see not just one steam train but two stopping at the station, then continuing on to Weybourne beach. Back at the Holiday Park we had a game of Boules which was eventually won by Steve.
18th August 2009. Tried out a proper golf course course today East Runton on the twilight rates as it normally is too expensive for us. Lovely evening but a lot of people around and a difficult very hilly course. I was not having a good day and patience eventually ran out at the sixth hole having already lost three balls. After, we went to the Village Inn to cool down.
13th August 2009. Really good weather at the moment so must make the most of it. Tennis at Cromer Tennis Club, there was a serious tournament on so we had to play on the artificial courts. We then sat with a drink in the sunshine and admired the young women playing.
6th August 2009. Summer disappearing fast ! Off to Yarmouth races today in glorious weather, not a bad turnout , 6 of us. Nice atmosphere and everyone in a good mood. I ended up with a win a second and a third over the 6 races which left me up £27. I won't mention how the others did !
30th July 2009. Risked the weather today and went to Mousehold Heath in Norwich to play golf. When we got to the car park surprise surprise it started raining, so we went to Zaks on the river and had a drink til the rain stopped. Although there was a heavy shower half way round the sun then came out for us and we had an enjoyable game, finishing with a round of 69 by Lincoln.
23rd July 2009. Been difficult to decide what activity to do as the weather is so unpredictable, forecast said rain so i scrapped the planned walk and opted for indoor tennis, so what happened, it was a great sunny day ! So indoor short tennis is was with a bit of badmington at the end for the 6 of us at Splash in Sherringham. We still got some sun when we went on to the Village Inn at East Runton and sat in the pub garden. We also went over to the Runton golf club and enquired about playing a round there.
16th July 2009. Messing about on the river ! The river Bure to be exact. Seven of us boarded a boat at Wroxham and ambled down to Horning where we stopped at the New Inn for a drink, nice pub, then back on the boat to Wroxham. Very peaceful and civilised.
9th July 2009. Played tennis today at Cromer Tennis Club then went for a drink at the Vernon Arms in Southreps.
2nd July 2009. It's been a really hot week , too hot to do much, so we went tenpin bowling, even that was too hot so we retired to the Bluebell for a drink in their garden. Then feeling a bit guilty we decided to go in to Cromer and play 18 holes of pitch and putt. It was a good laugh and to round it off, as we were at the seaside, a plate of fish and chips.
27th June 2009. A bit more energetic this week ! A ten mile bike ride from Mundesley to the Vernon Arms in Southreps where we had a drink and played some games in the pub garden, then back again to the Manor Hotel in Mundesley where we had a nice meal. A really nice hot summers day.
21st June 2009. Some of us went off to play golf on a Free Taster at Barnham Broom Golf Course. We played the full 18 holes on the hill course, me going round in 150 and losing 4 balls in the rough and 1 in a river so plenty of scope for improvement there. We had a nice meal after at half price. A really good day just wish we could afford the fees to join.
18th June 2009. Some of us got some practice in at the golf range at Mundesley, then met up with the others to play football at Gold Park, finishing up with a drink in The Manor hotel.
11th June 2009. The trip to Barton Broad was posponed as i descovered that the fishing season has not yet started. So tenpin bowling it was, 8 of us, KW won a close match with the last ball, getting a total of 144. After, we played some pool and tried out some of the arcade machines.
8th June 2009. Darts and pool night at the sports centre.
4th June 2009. Golf today at Eaton Park in Norwich. Not bad weather but the grass in the rough was very rough ! which resulted in us losing more balls than usual. LH won again as expected with a score of 75 over the 18 holes. After, we went on to the White Horse on the Norwich Road and had a drink and a burger.
1st June 2009. Darts and pool night at North Walsham Sports Centre.
28th May 2009. Off to Mundesley today in the sunshine. We had a drink in the Haig then went off for a game of crazy golf and i don't know how but i ended up winning, a score of 39 over the twelve holes. After, we sat in the garden of the Manor Hotel which overlooks the sea and had another drink and a chat.
21st May 2009. Eight today at the chinese restaurant on Riverside for a ' eat as much as you like ' meal to celebrate SE's 50th birthday, ( see pic below ) after, we went for a walk along the river and stopped for a drink at The Compleat Angler.
18th May 2009. Darts and pool night. Seven turned up which meant non stop chat.
14th May 2009. Eight turned up for tennis at Cromer Tennis Club on a not very good day, which has become one of the favorite activities. After, we tried out a new pub for a drink, Roman Camp on the Sheringham Road, not bad.
11th May 2009. Darts and pool night at the sports centre.
7th May 2009. Tenpin bowling today. I was away but told that everyone had a good time as usual.
30th April 2009. Good decision ! We went off to Mousehold Heath and played golf in perfect weather. After, we went to The White Horse to continue enjoying the sunshine in their garden with a cold beer.
27th April 2009. We managed to get into the games hall at last and played some badmington, then we met some of the others in the bar for a drink and some pool.
23rd April 2009. 8 of us found our way to Potter Heigham for a boat trip on The Broads. Very pleasant and relaxing, quiet today even the pub was shut so we went on to The Greyhound at Hickling and sat in the pub garden in the sun for a drink and chat.
20th April 2009. Darts and pool at the sports centre in North Walsham.
16th April 2009. Football at Southrepps recreation ground today then a drink and a game of garden Genga which was fun, at the Vernon Arms.
9th April 2009. Our plans for a boat trip were scuppered by the rain and it was school holidays so we had to find something of an adult nature which was inside, so we went for a pub lunch at The Suffield Arms in Southrepps. The meals were very good and the pub was comfortable so we stayed and continued chatting and played some darts.
8th April 2009. Social evening at Rossi's in North Walsham where we watched Chelsea beat Liverpool with a couple of beers in their comfortable lounge.
6th April 2009. Darts and pool at the sports centre.
2nd April 2009. Braved the cold and played outdoor tennis at the Cromer Tennis Club. After, we tried out The Station pub in Cromer, a bit basic.
30th March 2009. Darts and pool at the sports centre.
26th March 2009. Weather still letting us down. Off to The Haig club in Mundesley where we had a mini tournament at darts and pool. KW won the darts and DP won the pool. After , we were planning to play Crazy Golf but unfortunatly it was closed so we tried a new drinking hole The Manor where we had a lively discussion on religion / Darwin / Aliens.
23rd March 2009. Darts and pool night.
19th March 2009. Walk around NT Felbrigg lake then on to The Crown for a meal. Everyone in fine fettle and very positive.
16th March 2009. Darts and pool night.
12th March 2009. Getting hungry again so off we went to Pizzahut this time at Riverside, to take advantage of their lunchtime specials. After, we went to a new venue, Broadlands Snooker Club at Hellesden and played a few games.
9th March 2009. Dart and pool night. Hopefully we will be able to book the hall soon for something a bit more energetic.
5th March 2009. Eleven turned out for tenpin bowling today,a record ! Highest score was 143 by Crafty Ken the lowest was 57 by Everhard.
2nd March 2009. Hooray, into March, flowers, sunshine, I can't wait ! Darts and pool again tonight at the sports centre.
26th February 2009. Not a bad day today so 6 of us went for a 3-4 mile walk, from Weyborne railway station through Sheringham park and along the coastal path to Sheringham town where we had a meal in The Crown.

19th February 2009. We went to play indoor short tennis at Splash in Sheringham and after went to a local social club to play darts and pool.
16th February 2009. Darts and pool night at the sports centre in North Walsham.
12th February 2009. We went off to the Haig in Mundesley to play darts and pool and have a drink in the comfortable surroundings.
9th February 2009. Some of us went to Yarmouth Stadium for a meal and watch the greyhound racing to celebrate one of the guys birthday. I bet £13 on the 13 races and ended up only losing £1 which I thought was a good result.
5th February 2009. Good turnout today for tenpin bowling. As usual we had a laugh and some good banter. Looking forward to some outdoor activities.
2nd February 2009. Darts and pool night. Well thats January out of the way, but a couple of inches of snow outside. Glad to say the weather has not stopped anyone coming out.
29th January 2009. Went for a double today, table tennis at Sheringham community centre and bowls at Pinewood Leisure in Sheringham. Was good fun.
26th January 2009. Darts and pool night at the sports centre. It looks like we have a team for the five-a-side football competition, but we are having trouble finding somewhere to practice, any ideas ?
22nd January 2009. New venue for us. A trip into Norwich city to do a bit of window shopping and also to try an eat-as-much-as-you-like buffet at Malaysian Delights in Timber Hill. Very tasty ! After, we went across the road to The Murderer pub for a drink to wash it down and to discuss what activities we can look forward to.
19th January 2009. Darts and pool night. We saw a poster for a five-a-side football tournament and thinking of having a go.
15th January 2009. Tenpin bowling today at Strikers. We split up into 3 teams for a change, the best and the worst etc and it created some extra laughs.
12th January 2009. Darts and pool night. This is going very well with five regular members. We were hoping to start some activities in the hall again but the hall is fully booked through winter so we will have to wait.
8th January 2009. Good turnout today 8 for indoor tennis at Splash in Sheringham. After, we went to The Crown for a meal.
2nd January 2009. Started off with just a drink at The Bluebell in North Walsham and ended up with a meal at Morrisons in Cromer then watching Spurs easily beat Woking, in the FA Cup at a social club in Sheringham.
